As we celebrate Women’s History Month, it’s important to acknowledge the women who have shaped — and continue to transform — the Accounts Receivable Management (ARM) and debt collection industries. As of 2024, women make up between 70-75% of the collections and accountsreceivable workforce, highlighting their critical role in daytoday operations and organizational success.

There are many industry-wide organizations that have and actively elevate women’s leadership and their impact on the industry. Platforms such as Women in Consumer Finance (WCF), Women of Debt Relief (WoDR), and industry conferences such as ACA and RMAi regularly showcase the skills of female leaders. These women are thought leaders, educational leaders, operational leaders, risk & regulatory leaders, and advocates for the industry on Capitol Hill. They have been recognized as influential women across lending, servicing, and collections, and they work tirelessly to further the industry.

Many industry-wide organizations actively elevate women’s leadership and impact, such as:

  • Women in Consumer Finance (WCF) provides an environment where emerging, experienced, and executive female leaders who work at organizations in the consumer finance industry connect and grow. This organization has recognized the efforts of both women and men in the industry, presenting awards annually to recognize these efforts.

Editor’s Note: In 2025, Angie Erwin — VP of Compliance & Risk and a valued contributor to this blog — was honored with the 2025 Risk & Regulatory Intelligence Award, as selected by her industry peers.

  • Women of Debt Relief (WoDR) has built a fast-growing national community of female professionals across debt relief and adjacent financial services. In 2024, the organization expanded educational programming while increasing visibility for women at conferences and regulatory events.
  • Industry conferences such as RMAi and ACA showcase women leaders in Accounts Receivable through dedicated panels that highlight their leadership driving innovation, cultural transformation, and organizational performance.

Across ARM and debt collection, women lead with empathy, compliance expertise, and innovation — qualities essential in today’s regulatory environment. Their impact is felt not only in the metrics they improve but in the cultures they build, the consumers they protect, and the next generation they inspire.

This month, we honor all the women — recognized formally or working quietly behind the scenes — who are strengthening the future of our industry.
